The Fano factory located in central Italy is a factory specialising in the manufacture of extending boxes, cases and a wide range of other sheet-metal products. The principal products that are manufactured are: extending boxes (BT9, BT.11, BT.13), tool boxes (BT.6A, BT.4A), workshop lockers, mobile large-volume benches (2224) and workshop furniture.
The factory is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and SA 8000 certified.
The factory operates a full manufacturing cycle from raw materials (coil or flat sheet metal) to the finished product.
The main phases in the process are:
- Piercing on two high capacity automatic lines
- Stamping on three lines of presses
- Bending
- Welding also on lines equipped with anthropomorphic robots
- Automatic lines for manufacture of trays for extending boxes
- Automatic powder coating lines
- Assembly, finishing and dispatch lines

The manufacturing process is Kanban-managed for all major product groups, is highly flexible and is of high capacity. All Lean Manufacturing tools are in place in order to rationalise flows and to ensure that manufacturing times are reduced to a minimum in order to provide the best possible service to customers. The quality of raw materials, the inspections which form an integral part of all phases of the process and the characteristics of the painting process ensure very highest quality standards for all the product ranges manufactured. Automation of critical operations ensures stability and reproducibility of qualitative results.
The factory also has one of the highest levels of performance in the Group in
terms of EHS and is a point of reference in this field. Supported by Manufacturing, and guaranteeing constant development of products and technologies, the Methods group on the Fano site are equipped with the most up-to-date CAD/CAM systems to ensure innovation and ensure that the demands of professional users are met.
